The EC-Council Aspen Portal Explained: Your Hub for Courseware, Vouchers, Exams & Certificates
Share
Aspen is where your entire EC-Council journey lives — unlocking courseware, getting your voucher, launching practical exams, submitting ECE credits, and downloading your certificate. Here's how to navigate it without confusion.
If you're buying any EC-Council certification, you'll be living in one place: Aspen, EC-Council's candidate portal at aspen.eccouncil.org. It's where you redeem your courseware code, receive your exam voucher, launch hands-on exams, track and submit your ECE renewal credits, and download your certificate when you pass. New candidates often find it a little opaque at first, so this guide walks through what each part does and the order you'll use it in. (For the renewal side specifically, see the EC-Council ECE policy explained.)
What Aspen is
Aspen is EC-Council's official student/candidate portal — a single account that ties together everything linked to your certifications: courses, vouchers, exam dashboards, certificates, transcripts, and continuing-education records. When you buy genuine EC-Council materials, the access codes and vouchers you receive are redeemed and managed here.
Step 1: Create your account
Visit https://aspen.eccouncil.org, click Register, complete the form, and activate your account from the confirmation email (sent from aspen@eccouncil.org). Use an email you'll keep — your exam voucher and important notices go to this Aspen-registered email address.
Step 2: Redeem your courseware / access code
Once you've purchased official courseware, you'll get a subscription/access code. In Aspen:
- Log in and click Submit Subscription Code.
- Enter the code and click Submit.
- Your course appears under My Courses — click the Training icon to open the e-courseware (the official video lectures and theory).
This is how you unlock the learning content you bought. (For what's inside, see e.g. CEH courseware: what's inside.)
Step 3: Get your exam voucher
For many programs, the exam voucher code is released to your Aspen-registered email (from aspen@eccouncil.org) after you complete the required course evaluation. Keep that email — it contains your voucher code and instructions. Remember vouchers are time-limited (typically one year), and exams should be scheduled at least 3 days in advance. For voucher types and options, see CEH exam voucher: standard, retake & ECC center.
Step 4: Launch hands-on exams from the dashboard
For practical and range-based exams — like CEH Practical and CPENT — Aspen hosts your exam dashboard. After entering your dashboard access code, you'll schedule your session and, when it's time, click Launch Exam within Aspen to begin. This is also where range/lab access for those programs is managed. See the CPENT cyber range & 24-hour exam guide and the CEH iLabs walkthrough.
Step 5: Download your certificate when you pass
Once certified, get your credential from Aspen:
- Go to My Courses → Certificate.
- Click Download to access your certificate, transcript, and the official logo & usage guidelines.
That logo is what you can legitimately display on LinkedIn and your résumé.
Step 6: Manage ECE renewal credits
Aspen is also your renewal hub. To submit continuing-education credits:
- Click the My Courses tab, then ECE Status.
- Click Manage My Events → Add New Event.
- Add each qualifying activity with its documentation.
Track your running total toward the required 120 credits here, and download your CE fee invoice when paying your annual membership. Full rules in the EC-Council ECE policy explained.
Tips and common snags
- Use one consistent email — switching emails causes voucher and account headaches.
- Check your spam folder for aspen@eccouncil.org messages (voucher codes, confirmations).
- Complete the course evaluation — for many programs the voucher won't release until you do.
- Keep documentation for every ECE activity as you go; you'll upload proof.
- Schedule early — practical exams need advance booking, and vouchers expire.
- Buy genuine — codes from unauthorized resellers may not redeem in Aspen at all. See how to buy official EC-Council vouchers.
